5 MLM Tips on Building Your Customer Base

​Choosing to be a multi-level marketing entrepreneur can be a rollercoaster of exciting and frightening emotions as you realize that you are now your own boss. The amount of effort you put forth into your business can be directly attributed to your own success. If you are responsible for sharing and selling a product that you believe in, here are 5 MLM tips to help boost your business.


​1. Know Your Target Audience

One of the best MLM tips out there for growing your customer base is to first understand who your target customers are. You can’t grow the number of people you’re reaching out to if you’re not reaching out to the right people.

If you know your product well, you probably have a good idea of who your target audience would be. By understanding the needs and desires of this specific group of people, you can then begin to gear your marketing towards that niche audience which might reflect in the growth of a customer base and better sales results.


2. Get the Most out of Social Media
Chances are you are signing on to social media and creating a post here or there about the product you’re selling. This is great, but don’t try to simply push your product, rather engage with your customers online.

Ask them questions about their cosmetic needs, create a fun survey or even post a tutorial video of yourself using the products. Going beyond the typical photo post with hundreds of hashtags will add validity to the product you’re selling and gather the interest of a larger audience.

3. Stay Consistent and Active
Speaking of social media, be sure to remain consistent online. This means making regular posts to keep yourself current in the newsfeeds of others. Branch out to various social media outlets to simply reach a larger number of people in the hopes of cultivating your customer base.

In addition to making consistent posts, also try to remain active on these accounts. When a potential customer addresses you online, be sure to respond promptly. Active accounts can be more likely to draw the attention of potential customers as your name will frequently pop up the more you engage with others.


4. Move Beyond Your Inner Circles
Introducing your product to family and friends is a great way to kick-start your business, but don’t rely on these inner circles to boost your sales. In fact, doing so can ruin relationships, and that’s the last thing you want. One of the simplest but most important MLM tips is to not be afraid to engage with acquaintances, and to meet others when displaying your product.

5. Host Open Online Parties
A great way to meet new people and to show them your product, and to invite them to become salesmen or saleswomen themselves, is to host open online parties. People may be more inclined to check-in to an online party than to attend one in person, and you can reach out to people who live across the country. Engage with these party-goers and collect contact information so that you can include them in your building customer base.
