![]() Most MLM distributors know that the more team members they have (downline), the more control they have over their residual income. However, they can still get hung up on the challenge of building their team in the first place. False starts and flaky friends all cause team leaders to sputter when they should be hitting their stride. Perfecting this process naturally takes experience and a small dose of luck, but there are still plenty of ways for first-timers to grow a reliable team and to avoid the most common mistakes. 1. Set Clear Expectations Part of the challenge of Network Marketing is the paradox that it is both simple and yet complex. Too many inductees are sold on the idea of “getting rich quick” without having to put in a full-time level of effort, which is true but perhaps overemphasizing the relaxed aspects of the business. Any legitimate company will tell you it is NOT a "Get Rich Fast" proposition... Team members still have responsibilities and expectations, both to their customer leads and to their fellow teammates. Without clear protocols in place, disorganization and inconsistency becomes the norm. Put a stop to lax attitudes by making your expectations clear from the beginning. Establish a verbal briefing for all recruits that lays out their responsibilities, expectations, projected turnarounds and standard communication practices. If need be, put everything in writing and have them sign it. This formality may scare off some members, but it is a way to help the new distributor stay true to their goals and be accountable. 2. Provide a Solid Example All SeneGence team leaders should know how to lead by example. With experience and as their team grows, they learn to take on the management role. By being an excellent front-line representative, you not only understand the skills that it takes to succeed but also how to demonstrate them. Record sales sessions — with the client’s permission — and show your team how to “work their magic.” Also, do not skip out on any tasks or engage in certain behaviors unless you find it acceptable for your team to do so, too. Double standards can confuse people, even when they make sense given differing roles. 3. Use Events to Drive Sales and Excitement Day to day tasks can quickly lose their luster among any business owner including SeneGence distributors. Events can rekindle their passion and allow them to relearn effective sales approaches that get results. Attend events, such as the eWomen’s Success Summit with Sandra Yancey or SeneGence Glamour Events, and strongly encourage your team to do the same. If everyone has abnormally busy schedules, you can all still pledge to view a sales webinar or online presentation at the same time to enhance the feeling of group learning and camaraderie. My team and I have such an amazing time meeting entrepreneurs and learning about new strategies that can help us reach our goals. Just recently we put on a Glamour Event at the Everett Bob’s Burgers and Brews, where we had such a fun time “Playing Makeup!” 4. Find Experienced Sales People
One of the best MLM tips out there is to find experienced sales people. One of the main appeals of MLM is the “anyone can do it” attitude, but it never hurts to have a true pro on your side. Try to find someone with experience in sales or handling customers one-on-one, but best of all is to find someone with Passion...Passion for the products & Passion to succeed. What a great "problem" to wake up too! There is a TON of training in the back office of your SeneGence site, and who is your upline? Contact them directly and ask for help....Where do you live? there may be trainings going on in your area that you can attend...YouTube videos are great training too...Call her and just talk, let her know you are new too and you two can learn together!

I signed up a month and a half ago and have tried everything under the SUN MOON and STARS to get people to sign up. I have successful sales - beyond my expectations - but no team. The ones who are interested, say that they don't have the money to place an order. Or, I get the "is this one of those pyramid things" comments all of the time.

I started LipSense like a couple weeks ago, and I’m still trying to figure everything out and I’m struggling trying to get people to join my group to even see what LipSense is all about, hopefully more people join just a little difficult at first.

I signed up the end of October and had an amazing launch in November. December was horribly slow and i have gotten a few downlines, my problem is getting people to book online parties or demos.
