Evolution of Eyebrow Shapes
Eyebrow aesthetics can be traced back to as early as Ancient Egyptian times. Women then had exhibited interest for arched eyebrows tinted with mineral powder made of dark colors. In Rome and Greece, people believed in purity when it comes to women’s eyebrows. These were believed to be best left untouched or just slightly tinted when necessary.
But when it came to the Middle Ages, beliefs with regards to beauty started to alter. The eyelashes and eyebrows were often removed to expose the forehead. This was their belief of being beautiful. In the Victorian era, women who wore too obvious or too much makeup were recognized as prostitutes. Therefore, classy and elegant women prefer to leave their eyebrows untouched.
1920's when early television started, celebrities would pluck their eyebrows extensively. This would result to a thin, straight, and dramatic look. They also applied grooming solutions such as Vaseline and petroleum jelly to keep their brows shiny.
1930's, dark and tweezed eyebrows continued to reign. But instead of being straight and shiny, arched eyebrows started to be a trend. Women at that time preferred high eyebrows that reached halfway down their temples.
1950's is when the idea of thick and penciled eyebrows started. These were first exhibited by popular celebrities at the time.
1980's is when the caterpillar brows then took over This was when brow powders and pencils helped to complete the look.
Today, rare eyebrow shapes are all the rage in celebrities. Most people continue to arch their eyebrows rather than have it straight and thin, but Asians — Koreans in particular — prefer straight, defined brows to achieve that innocent, doe-eyed look.

Why Eyebrows are an Important Feature on Your Face
The eyebrows make any woman’s face more pronounced and prominent. It’s also one of the most common concerns when it comes to makeup. Eyebrows can help contour the face, the jaw line, and even the temples. This is attainable provided that an expert performs the application. The contouring effect is also more affordable than spending money on Botox operations.
Having good eyebrows can also make one look younger and more refreshed. This provides the illusion of having well-rested eyes even if you only had an hour of rest. Moreover, well-groomed brows define one’s personality based on their shape and color. Some may opt for colors that match their hair for an even or natural look, while others will choose contrasting colors.
Your brows can accentuate and even complete any look you dress for. A modern or classy night out or just a regular day at work can look more elegant paired with matching eyebrows and a smile. Having even just good eyebrows instead a full-palette makeup can make anyone look beautiful and confident without the extra effort and color.
